Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Well, there is no specific reason why we’re posting this recipe as the first one in our blog. Ah ha, but only if you insist, here it is. In our culture(India), all the beginnings are made with a sweet! This is a sweet treat and somewhat healthy one too!

Let’s get to the business. I dunno why, but I always pulled to those dark colored desserts from the lunch table. Pumpkin muffins, Oatmeal Raisin, Blueberry or Chocolate Cookies. Maybe it was ingrained in my mind that all dark colored foods are healthy. Mostly that’s true I guess.

Well, this recipe is super simple. You mix all the ingredients together and throw them in the cookie pan (and  in oven).  All done, within half hour. I mean, All done! Its that simple.

Ingredients

 

Old Fashioned Oats – 2 1/2 Cups

1 Minute Oats- ½ Cup

All purpose Flour – 3/4 Cup

Butter – 1 ½ Sticks

Egg – 1

Raisins Black – ½  Cup

Raisin Golden – ¼ Cup

Chocolate – ¼ Cup

Dark Brown Sugar – 1/2 Cup Dark,

Light Brown Sugar – 1/2 Cup light

White Sugar – 1 Tbsp

(2 Tbsp if you don’t use Chocolate chips)

Cinnamon – 1/4th Tsp

Vanilla Essence – 1Tp

Vanilla Extract – 1 1/2 Tsp

Baking Soda – 1/2 Tsp

Salt – 1/2 Tsp

Cinnamon – 1/4 Tsp

Nutmeg – A few flakes

100gram of rolled oats supply following proportion of Daily value of nutrition:

44% Dietary fiber needs

34% Protein 44%

Manganese 26% Iron

Raisins

Raisins have lot of health benefits like preventing cancer, hypertension and known to help with sexual dysfunction.

In terms of nutrition, they are not super heavy on any particular one but have supply a good balance of B-Vitamins and has bunch of Minerals along with fiber
